Recently, our operations support team shared the following \u201c10 Suggestions for a Great 2011\u201d with all our franchise owners\/business coaches<\/strong>.\u00a0 With slight modifications and removal of some proprietary content, I thought our Growth Coach blog readers would enjoy these simple yet powerful suggestions as well.<\/p>\n

After all, for your business to grow in 2011, YOU must grow in 2011<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you think the same thoughts and do the same things in 2011 that you did in 2010, why would you expect any different results?\u00a0 For a better 2011, YOU must grow your mindset, knowledge, strategies and habits.<\/strong><\/p>\n

10 Suggestions for a Great 2011:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

STAY POSITIVE.<\/strong> For your business to grow, YOU must grow as an owner, leader, and marketer.\u00a0 Feed your mind with a consistently positive diet<\/strong> \u2026 buy uplifting, motivational and educational CDs for your drive time \u2026 create a positive University on Wheels.\u00a0 Go to www.Nightingale.com<\/a> for some great CDs\/MP3 downloads and select areas you would like to focus on and improve as a business owner. Be willing to expand your vision, mindset and possibilities for yourself and your business<\/strong>.\u00a0 Also, go on a TV News diet \u2026 consume less news on a daily basis<\/strong>.\u00a0 Most of it is negative, sensational, and meant to prey off your fears.\u00a0 Above all else, as an owner, stay positive and remain confident.<\/li>\n
  2. KEEP AND EXPAND WHAT YOU HAVE.<\/strong> Visit with the Top 20% of your clients in Quarter One to see how they are doing, how you could better serve them, what their 2011 goals are, and what other unmet service needs they may have.\u00a0 Focus on client retention and expansion.<\/strong> Stay close to your top customers as they are someone else\u2019s top prospects.<\/li>\n
  3. MAINTAIN A MARKETING MINDSET.<\/strong> Never forget the business you are really in \u2026 the business of MARKETING.\u00a0 Don\u2019t think like a technician, think and act like a marketer.<\/strong> If you are going to be an expert in anything, make it marketing.\u00a0 Marketing should be the highest priority for any owner and business.\u00a0 It\u2019s your lifeblood and it\u2019s simply about educating others on why it\u2019s in their best interest to do or continue to do business with you.\u00a0 Make your marketing an on-going, systematic, educational process.\u00a0 Get your whole team involved.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. REMEMBER THAT BUSINESS IS A CONTACT SPORT.<\/strong> Growing your business (especially business coaching<\/a>) is all about building trust, establishing relationships and helping to solve problems for others<\/strong>.\u00a0 You can\u2019t fully achieve that dynamic without sufficient marketing and face-to-face interaction.\u00a0 Don\u2019t fool yourself, your website and social media marketing will help you build credibility, but for the vast majority of businesses, that is NOT sufficient to grow a business \u2026 success still comes down to meeting with clients, prospects and referral sources on a regular basis and building relationships and solving problems<\/strong>.\u00a0 To truly grow your business, consider focusing 60% of your time on marketing, sales and promotion (includes client retention and expansion efforts); 35% on client fulfillment; and only 5% on administration.\u00a0 Get out of the office and actually go visit and see your customers\/clients, prospects and referral sources.\u00a0 Set a goal to meet in person with 10 people a week.\u00a0 Go make contact! <\/strong>And please, please, please, don\u2019t overdue the social media marketing (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogging, etc.) \u2026 that is supplemental, NOT a replacement for highly effective and productive relationship-building efforts.<\/li>\n
  5. FACE YOUR MENTAL DEMONS.<\/strong> As an owner, you can only advance when you are standing on the firm ground of TRUTH, not the quicksand of DENIAL.\u00a0 Be totally honest with yourself and determine the Top 3 Limiting Beliefs\/Excuses holding you back from greater success, happiness and fulfillment \u2026 and then, share those mental demons with someone (business coach<\/a>, partner, peer, etc.) to help you slay them.<\/strong> To achieve your desired external outcomes, you must first win the inner game (proper mindset, supporting daily thoughts, empowering beliefs, positive stories, etc.).\u00a0 You must conquer self and conquer your mental demons. <\/strong> If need be, hire a certified business coach<\/a> like The Growth Coach.<\/li>\n
